A government school teacher from Srinagar, Dr Urfana Amin, was awarded the National Teachers’ Award by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu
Urfana was felicitated with the National Teachers’ Award for her contributions to the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) module, e-content for the DIKHSA portal, and adult literacy.
Posted as a teacher at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Soura, Urfana was recognised for her innovative teaching of the science subject through the ‘Learn Big From Small’ idea.
Urfana has previously received a gold medal for teaching science at the primary level from the National Science Council of Teacher Scientists.
Hailing from the Lal Bazar area of Srinagar, the innovative teacher shared that in 2007-2008, she developed a curriculum for Jammu and Kashmir, which was implemented by the State Institute of Education (SIE).
