Srinagar’s martial arts twins, Ayeera Chisti and Ansa Chishti have brought honour to India, particularly to Jammu and Kashmir, by securing gold medals at the Russian Moscow Stars Wushu International Championship held in Moscow from February 28th to March 5th, 2024, a DIPR statement said.
The sisters displayed exceptional skill in their respective weight divisions of 52 and 56, triumphing over their Russian counterparts in the finals.
This marks Ayeera’s third international medal; she previously claimed gold in Georgia and bronze in the World Championship in Indonesia. Her consistent success in international Wushu Championships led to her being shortlisted for a State Award last year, making her the first female Wushu athlete to receive such recognition.
Similarly, Ansa secured her second international medal after winning silver in the Georgia International Wushu Championship. Her victory in today’s championship marks her first gold medal in an international competition.
Both sisters have a remarkable track record as National Champions in their respective weight categories, having secured multiple medals in National championships.
