The Kashmiri Mathematician Bilal Ahmad Dar on Monday unveiled his revamped version of his solar car with a brand new design, enhanced efficiency and advanced technology.
He has become the first person to manufacture India’s high-tech solar car Ray.
Addressing media persons, Bilal Dar said he has named his car as Bilal’s Innovative Solar Automobile (BISA) will be the first company of Kashmir and India’s first high-tech solar company to manufacture a high-tech solar car.
“In 2009, my dream was to create a company named after BISA, After that, there were a lot of ups and downs. At first I bought a car and converted it to hydrogen gas but due to some technical faults, I converted the car to an Electrical Vehicle (electricity) as it would depend on electricity.
He said after a lot of research on solar power he started working on manufacturing a solar care. “In 2022, I shared my model with people and the video went viral on social media. Today I have reached a point where I have showcased the revamped version of the car,” he said.
He said the car was ready and it will run on roads for test drives in March as they have planned to take the vehicle for road test to Pahalgam and Gulmarg.
He announced that the car will hit roads on June 22 of 2025.
“I have spent more than 20 lakhs on this car. In 2009, when I saw that there would be an oil crisis in India. The price of petrol and diesel will increase exponentially, I thought of making a car that will not be dependent on petrol and diesel,” he said.
He said the BISA Ray is eco-friendly and has a lot of green energy.
“The car has a lot of solar panels. It has a 5D solar panel. It generates 1 kilowatt of power. It will charge the BMS system,” he said.
He further claimed that his high tech solar car will get charged even on cloudy days.
“The chassis of the car is very compact. I have patented it. I have three patents. One is for safety. The second is for solar power, a utility patent. The third is a design patent. It has been published 9 times internationally,” he said.
He said the idea behind naming his car Ray was that ray means initial point but no terminal point. “The solar car will keep running always,” he said.
He said earlier Mahindra Company Chairman Anand Mahindra had shown interest in his model but the collaboration did not materialise due to technical issues.
The revamped car has newly designed doors which have been designed in a unique wing design, giving a beautiful look to the Car. The car is also equipped with solar panels on the front and back side besides the top, to generate additional power.
