Kashmir will again become favourite destination of Bollywood: Sinha

During past few years, Bollywood had shunned Kashmir for some reasons. \In drafting the new Policy, we have consulted the stakeholders. Some unexplored areas have also been listed,” Sinha told a news channel on the sidelines of a function of inauguration of Office-cum-Yatri Niwas of Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board in Srinagar.
He expressed confidence that old days of Bollywood shooting movies in Kashmir will return.
“Bollywood is also very enthusiastic to return to Kashmir,” he said.
He said Prime Minister is building ‘New India’ and “we are here building “New Jammu and Kashmir”. The Union Territory of J&K will whole heartedly join the ‘Amrut Mahotsav’ coinciding with 75 years of celebrations of country’s independence.
Asked whether he would announce some districts as militancy-free, Sinha said there is no need to do that as people are visiting Jammu and Kashmir and gathering a feeling about this.
Asserting that tourism has increase manifold in Jammu and Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor said a message has gone that the people of the Union Territory are welcoming the tourists and that is why they are coming in large numbers.
On Shri Amarnath Ji pilgrimage, Sinha said a study is being conducted for providing Ropeway facilities at the holy cave shrine.
“Study has been entrusted to an organization for determining feasibility of Ropeway project for the cave shrine located in South Kashmir Himalayas,” he added.
It may be mentioned here that annual pilgrimage to Shri Amarnath Ji shrine has been suspended for second consecutive year because of COVID pandemic while in 2019, the yatra was cut short by about a fortnight ahead of August 5 decisions of the Central Government to abrogate special status of Jammu and Kashmir and its bifurcation into two Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh.
On employment, the Lieutenant Governor said last year, the unemployment rate in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir was 19.6 percent as per survey conducted by an independent organization while in June this year it has come down to 10.6 percent.
“We are well placed than Rajasthan, New Delhi and Goa in the unemployment rate,” he added.
Sinha said the Government is doing good work in Jammu and Kashmir which has led to peace, prosperity and development.
“Wrong narrative being spread by the vested interests won’t work,” he asserted
The Lieutenant Governor also mentioned about increase in District Capex Budget this year from Rs 5163 crore to Rs 12160 crore and said 80 percent works will be completed in one year and 20 percent in two years.
