Kashmir Observes Shab-e-Mehraj with Devotion and Religious Fervor

The night of Shab-e-Meraj was observed with prayers and devotion across the Kashmir Valley, as people of all ages assembled in mosques and shrines to honour the Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) sacred journey.

Similar prayers were held in towns and villages across the Valley, where mosques remained filled till late hours. Families, elders, youth, and children participated with devotion. Many spent the night in prayers, recitation of the Quran, and special supplications for peace and stability.

The largest gathering was witnessed at Dargah Hazratbal in Srinagar, where thousands of devotees converged despite the cold. Roads leading to the shrine remained jam packed as people arrived in large numbers from different districts. Volunteers and officials were seen guiding devotees to manage the rush.

A Waqf official said the holy relic will be shown five times from early Saturday.

Shab-e-Meraj is observed on the 27th day of the Islamic month of Rajab and holds deep spiritual importance for Muslims. Since morning, preparations were visible across the Valley. Mosques were decorated, loudspeakers announced prayer schedules, and people prepared for the sacred night with reverence.

Ahead of the occasion, the administration held several review meetings to ensure smooth observance. Officials said arrangements were finalized well in advance, keeping in view the expected turnout. Special focus was laid on traffic management, security, sanitation, and transport facilities.

An official said a detailed road plan was implemented around Dargah Hazratbal and additional transport services were arranged to facilitate devotees. The arrangements will remain in place for the coming days to ensure easy access to the shrine.

Devotees expressed hope and faith during the prayers. Ghulam Hassan, a pilgrim at Dargah Hazratbal, said he prayed for peace, unity, and a better future for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials said all necessary measures are in place and appealed to people to follow advisories to ensure a smooth and peaceful observance of Shab- e-Meraj across the Kashmir Valley.
