JP Atray Cricket Tournament: Teamwork powers J&K to big win over Minerva Club

Teamwork powered Jammu and Kashmir to a big victory by a huge margin of 196 runs over Minerva Cricket Club to keep their hopes alive in the ongoing 29th All India JP Atray Memorial Cricket Tournament 2024 at Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium, Patialia on Saturday.

Earlier, J&K rode on a magnificent batting display by the quartet of Suryansh Raina, Irfan ul Haq, Kanhaiya Wadhawan and Nasir Lone to score a good total of 267 runs in the stipulated 50 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process.

Suryansh top scored with splendid 91 runs off 105 balls, studded with 13 boundaries, while Irfan Ul Haq contributed power-packed 53 runs off just 26 balls with 4 fours and an equal number of sixes. Kanhaiya Wadhawan also scored valuable 52 runs off 69 balls with 4 boundaries, while Lone Nasir remained unbeaten on 30 runs off 43 balls with 3 fours.

Anshul Negi was the most successful bowler for Minerva Cricket Club, who took 3 wickets by conceding 46 runs in his 10 overs, while Monty Saini, Sidharth Bakshi, Jashanpreet Singh and Tushar Kapadiya claimed one wicket each.

In reply, Minerva Cricket Club bundled out for paltry 71 runs to lose the match by a huge margin 196 runs.
Skipper Agni Chopra top scored with 24 runs off 31 balls with 2 boundaries, while Jovanpreet Singh contributed 17 runs to the total.

For J&K all the bowlers bowled with the disciplined line and length and hit the right areas. Left-arm spinner Sarvashish Singh and right-arm off spinner Uday Pratap Singh bagged 3 wickets each, while skipper Shubham Singh Pundir took 2 wickets. Speedsters Mujtaba Yousuf and Lone Nasir claimed one wicket each.
The Jammu and Kashmir team is being accompanied by Punit Bisht as the Head Coach, Kavaljeet Singh as the Bowling Coach, Sameer as the Bowling Coach, Guru Pratap Singh as the Trainer and Rehman as the Physiotherapist.

J&K will face Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Colts in the next outing on September 16 at PCA Stadium, Mohali.
