In a bid to promote tourism and to provide a platform for local youth to exhibit their talent, Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation’s (JKTDC) weeklong Summer Food Fest commenced on Wednesday here at government-owned restaurant Kongposh in Srinagar.
A top official from the JKTDC told Rising Kashmir that the weeklong event will not showcase and serve various food cuisines like Kashmiri wazwan, Kashmiri Pandit food, Dogra food, and stalls of street food, the event will also give a platform to local youth to exhibit their talent.
“It is a weeklong event during which various food cuisines like Kashmiri Wazwan, Kashmiri Pandit food, Dogra food, and street food will be cooked by the specialized chefs of our department and will be in offering in our weeklong menu”, the official said.
The official added that during the weeklong Summer Food Fest, JKTDC is mulling roping in local artisans so that they can exhibit their craft, saying that the event is going to also witness musical evenings to enthrall the visitors.
“The weeklong program will also cover the showcasing of various talents by the local youth, as our department will be providing them a platform to showcase their talent, and for that our department is screening the submissions received by various youth groups and musical groups.
The official added that JKTDC has made more additions to this year’s summer food fest as it is promoting multiple food cuisines.
Meanwhile, the event was inaugurated by the Commissioner Secretary Tourism Sarmad Hafeez, who was accompanied by Managing Director JKTDC Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid, Director Tourism Dr. G N Itoo, and other officials.
