JK’s kickboxing team wins 29 medals in National Championships at Kolkata

The team of Kickboxing from Jammu and Kashmir has produced a remarkable performance and brought laurels to the Union Territory by record winning a record number of medals haul in the Sub-Junior and Junior National Championships held at Kolkata in West Bengal.

As per an official, the team took part in the National event under the banner of Kickboxing Association of J&K, the young J&K teams won 29 medals, including eight gold and nine silver.

In total, a 33-member contingent represented J&K at the National event that took place at Eastern Railway Stadium, Kolkata (W.B) from July 21 to 25 returned with flying colours, the official added.

“With the setting up a specialised training facility within MA Stadium by the J&K Sports Council, the Association has been able to groom the young boys and girls as medal winners,” said general secretary of the Association, Abhishek Jain.

He said that the players who won the gold medals at the events include Fayaz Furkan, Mehak Jamwal, Nazim Syed, Rahul Bagal, Manik Manhas, Syed Ali Shah, Syed Nazim and Fazil Ahmad.

Simranjeet Singh, Shavi Jamwal, Manik Kumar, Abhimanou Sharma, Simran Magotra, Nitish Jamwal, Syed Ali Shah. Mohd Sameer, Tarun Kumar, Danish Sharma, Jhanvi Jamwal and Fayaz Furkan won the silver medals, he said.

He added that Rajbir Singh, Faraz Ahmad, Manik Manhas, Abhimanyu Sharma, Ayushman Singh, Inayat Tahir, Girish Singh, Mohd Sameer, Simranjeet Singh, Shivansh Sharma and Piyush won bronze medals at the national sporting events.
