JKAACL showcases J&K’s vibrant dances at Int’l Himalayan Cultural Festival

Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) mesmerized audiences with a stunning cultural performance at the International Himalayan Cultural Festival in Dehradun.

The event, held at Lychee Bagh and organized by Kalashray Cultural and Social National Institution, brought together cultural groups from across the Himalayan region to celebrate diverse artistic traditions.
Under the guidance of Secretary Harvinder Kaur, JKAACL presented an enchanting dance showcase, curated by Natya Rang and led by Mohd Yaseen. Special Officer for Cultural Activities, Sanjeev Gupta, played a pivotal role in orchestrating the performance, which highlighted the rich folk traditions of J&K. The festival audience was captivated by the artistry and energy of the talented performers.

The ensemble featured a gifted group of dancers, including Kananpreet Kaur, Radhika Sharma, Sakshi Gupta, Palak Devi, Priya Sharma, Harsimran Kaur, Muskan Thakur, Isha Sharma, Taniya Thakur and Divya Sharma. Their graceful movements and vibrant performances authentically depicted the region’s cultural heritage, earning them enthusiastic applause from spectators

Speaking about the event, Sanjeev Gupta emphasized the significance of preserving and promoting J&K’s folk traditions on esteemed platforms. “Our cultural heritage is our identity, and it is our duty to ensure it thrives. This festival gave us an excellent opportunity to share the richness of J&K’s folk dances with a larger audience,” he stated

The International Himalayan Cultural Festival serves as a crucial platform for cultural exchange, fostering collaboration among artists and institutions from different Himalayan states. This year’s festival saw overwhelming participation, with JKAACL’s contribution standing out as a highlight of the event.

Recognizing JKAACL’s efforts, Kalashray Cultural and Social National Institution commended the academy for its dedication to preserving J&K’s artistic legacy.
