Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department is participating in the Travel and Tourism Fair Kolkata, considered to be Asia’s biggest travel show platform, evoking a positive response from the attendees. About 140 travel and trade bodies, including 14 state tourism departments and boards from across the country are taking part in the event. The event was inaugurated by the Principal Secretary Tourism, Govt of West Bengal Nandini Chakraborty.
A press statement said that JK Tourism has deputed a team of its officials including GM JKTDC Jammu, Manager Marketing SKICC and officials from the Administrative Secretariat Tourism, who are working in coordination with the local office of J&K Tourism, Kolkata.
On the inaugural day, the GM JKTDC, Sukriti Sambhyal made a presentation of the tourism products and services which Jammu Kashmir offers on its tourism platter. The GM JKTDC spoke about the natural beauty, heritage, culture, cuisine and craft of Kashmir and also promoted Jammu as an independent destination for being an important pilgrimage tourism attraction.
Manager Marketing SKICC, while interacting with the media and other attendees at the event, recounted the common and shared values between the people of Kashmir and Kolkata. He said that the people of both the places are known for being warm, social and hospitable, and also reminisced about the historical cultural and commercial bonds between the people of both places, the statement said.
The Department also listed the festival calendar of the JK Tourism which, it said, would see activities including Tulip Festival in March, Grand Houseboat Festival, Badamwari Festival, and Grand Jammu Maha Utsav. The MICE and golfing infrastructure of the UT was also highlighted in the TTF.
While expressing satisfaction over the response from the Kolkata TTF, the team expressed hope of a good turnout for the forthcoming summer season from West Bengal, the statement added.
