Jammu and Kashmir will receive another batch of two hundred vehicles under PM e-Bus Sewa Programme.
The development comes after the government recently inaugurated 100 e-buses each allotted for both Jammu and Srinagar cities under the Smart City Project.
The new 200 buses, 100 each for Jammu and Srinagar, will be provided by the central government under the Pradhan Mantri ‘e-bus Seva’ and will be of different specifications (dimensions) than the earlier 200 e-buses being provided by the Tata Motors under 12 year agreement with the J&K UT.
Government has submitted a proposal in this regard to the central government and is expected to be given a nod shortly.
“We have submitted the proposal regarding 200 more e-buses under Pradhan Mantri e-bus Sewa to the central government,” General Manager, Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL), Ashish Anand informed Rising Kashmir, while adding, “the proposal is under consideration and the announcement regarding 200 more e-buses will be made most probably after Diwali”.
The new 200 e-buses will be of different specifications than the earlier 200 e-buses which are plying in J&K under Smart City Project.
The 200 e-buses under Pradhan Mantri e-bus Sewa which will be provided to Jammu and Srinagar include 25 buses of 12 mtr length and 75 buses of 7mtr length.
Under the Smart City Project, the e-buses with dimensions of 9 mtr and 12 mtr are being provided to Jammu and Srinagar.
The small 7mtr e-buses have been ordered to meet the transportation requirement of interior areas of both Jammu and Srinagar cities.
