In the ongoing 38th National Games at Uttarakhand, Wushu players from Jammu and Kashmir have confirmed a remarkable achievement, securing 7 medals in the competition. The quarter-final bouts were held today, with the players set to compete in the semi-final bouts tomorrow. The medallists include Arjun Saleem, Kumar Surya Bhanu, Partap Singh, Ishant Singh, Rohan Kamraan, and Ayeera Chisti, all of whom will fight tomorrow for a silver medal in their respective categories.
This achievement marks another milestone for Wushu in the J&K-UT, as it has been the highest medal-winning sport for Jammu and Kashmir in the past three editions of the National Games. The players’ exceptional performances have not only brought pride to the region but also highlighted the growing strength of the sport in Jammu and Kashmir.
Vijay Saraf, president of the Jammu and Kashmir Wushu Association and Bhavneet, General Secretary, along with all the office bearers, congratulated the medallists for their outstanding efforts. The Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul and Chef de Mission Kiran Wattal also appreciated players and coaches for their hardwork and dedication.
Dronacharya awardee Kuldeep Handoo, who has been a guiding force for the players, praised the efforts of the athletes and thanked the J&K Sports Council for their immense support, which continues to yield excellent results in national and international events.
