The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) of Jammu and Kashmir has initiated the district-level competition for “Toycathon 2024” in 20 districts of the J&K focusing on the theme of “Promotion of Innovative Ideas and Revival of Local Heritage.”
Prof. Dr. Parikshat Singh Manhas, Director of JKSCERT, informed Rising Kashmir that the district-level competitions for the Toycathon 2024 initiative have commenced in all 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir, with approximately 3,000 participants engaged in this competition.
“In the district-level competition, the District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) are responsible for organizing these events. The competitions began on October 21 and will conclude on October 28, 2024,” said Prof Manhas.
He explained that Toycathon 2024 is designed to encourage student participation across three categories: Category I for grades 6 to 8, Category II for grades 9 to 10, and Category III for grades 11 to 12.
“In each category, the top three students will be selected to advance to the UT Level Competition. A total of 180 students from across Jammu and Kashmir will qualify for the UT Level competitions, which will commence following the completion of the district-level events,” Director JKSCERT said.
He further emphasized that the objective of the ‘Toycathon’ is to “explore India’s potential to cultivate and maintain a creative ecosystem for the development of toys and games, thereby celebrating Aatma Nirbhar Bharat.
