The 7th National Roller Netted Ball Championship concluded on a high note near Miramar Beach, Goa, with Jammu and Kashmir’s senior girls’ team emerging victorious. The championship, held from September 17 to 18, saw participation from 9 states, with about 250 athletes competing across sub-junior and senior categories.
The event was organized by the Roller Netted Ball Federation of India under the aegis of the International Roller Netted Ball Federation. Teams from across the nation vied for the title, with Jammu and Kashmir’s boys and girls teams, led by senior coach M. Ashraf Dijoo, putting up a stellar performance.
In a thrilling final, J&K’s senior girls’ team secured a 1-0 victory over Kerala. Captain Wafa Tariq scored the only goal of the match, while goalkeeper Nahal Zahra’s outstanding defense prevented Kerala from equalizing, sealing J&K’s second consecutive national title. J&K had previously won the championship in 2023 at Simla.
Meanwhile, J&K’s senior boys team also advanced to the finals but fell short against Tamil Nadu, who clinched the gold with an 11-2 victory. J&K secured the silver, while Kerala took home the bronze.
The championship concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where Sri Lankan Roller Netted Ball President Baby Rani, Secretary Miss Sofia, International Roller Netted Ball General Secretary Mrs. Reni, and D. Hari Kumar, Senior Vice President of the Roller Netted Ball Federation, awarded the trophies to the winners and runners-up.
