In Jammu and Kashmir, the cabinet has approved Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s address to be delivered by him on the first day of the budget session in the Legislative Assembly. The cabinet met at the Civil Secretariat Jammu last evening under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and approved the LG’s address. The LG will address the Assembly on the 3rd of March and it will outline the policies and roadmap of the Omar Abdullah-led Jammu and Kashmir government.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who also holds the Finance Department, will present his maiden budget in the Legislative Assembly on March 7. As per Jammu & Kashmir Reorganisation Act 2019, the Lieutenant Governor shall address the Legislative Assembly at the commencement of the first session after each general election to the Legislative Assembly and at the commencement of the first session of each year. Notably, this would be the second address of the LG to the Assembly in the past four months. On November 04, last year, LG Sinha made a detailed address to the House, outlining the agenda and priorities of the government.
