The awards were presented by the Union Ministry for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj to J&K for being second best state across the country in achievement of road length constructed under PMGSY.
Implementation of Prime Minister’s Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Jammu and Kashmir has got recognition from the Union Government with the state bagging two national awards at a function held here today, an official spokesman said.
The awards were presented by the Union Ministry for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj to J&K for being second best state across the country in achievement of road length constructed under PMGSY. The second award for presented to J&K for accomplishing 3rd rank among all the states across the country for number of habitations connected through PMGSY roads.
Meanwhile, the Union Ministry for Rural Development awarded J&K’s Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department for making pioneering efforts in institution building and capacity building in the state through the pioneering scheme. Two national awards were presented to J&K for its impressive performance in implementing Umeed scheme by mobilizing about 270632 women in J&K into 29703 self-help groups and strengthening these groups by way of providing revolving capital from the state Rural Livelihoods Mission (SRLM) and linking them with various financial institutions.
