In a continued effort to uplift and empower young girls, the Indian Army’s 41 Rashtriya Rifles organized the Col Santosh Mahadik Inter-School Girls Kho-Kho Tournament from September 11 to 13, 2024, at Galzoo Stadium, Kupwara. This event showcased the spirit of competition and sportsmanship among schoolgirls, with a total of eight teams participating in the tournament, conducted in a knockout format.
The thrilling final match took place on September 13, 2024, between Government Middle School and Sadiq Memorial School, both from Kupwara. The final match, marked by its intensity and nail-biting moments, saw Government Middle School emerge victorious with a score of 20-14.
The event was attended by prominent civil and military dignitaries, along with students and staff from the participating schools who came to cheer on their teams
Each team demonstrated remarkable zeal and enthusiasm, with strong encouragement from both their schools and the Indian Army throughout the tournament. This support played a key role in motivating the girls and fostering a sense of sportsmanship.
All participating teams received recognition, while the top three teams were awarded medals and coveted trophies for their outstanding performances. The tournament served as an inspiring platform where the girls showcased resilience, exemplifying a ‘Never Give Up’ attitude. The event was a resounding success, contributing significantly to the empowerment and upliftment of young women in Kupwara and reinforcing the Army’s commitment to supporting local youth.
