In a major welfare initiative, the Indian Army on Tuesday organized a comprehensive medical camp for the border villages of Urusa, Chakra, Isham, and Goalta in the Uri sector, following the recent ceasefire agreement.
Held under the aegis of the Chinar Corps’ Kalapahar Brigade and Kathi Battalion, the camp provided free medical consultations, diagnostic services, and medicines to local residents. The initiative aimed to improve healthcare access for people in these remote villages, who have long faced difficulties due to border tensions and limited medical facilities.
More than 450 villagers received essential healthcare services during the camp. Military doctors, paramedics, and health workers attended to a range of medical needs, including routine check-ups, immunizations, treatment for chronic illnesses, and emergency care.
The camp also focused on raising awareness about preventive healthcare, hygiene, and the importance of regular medical check-ups. Essential medicines for common and chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and respiratory problems were distributed to ensure continued care.
Local residents and community leaders welcomed the initiative, expressing gratitude to the Army for addressing a critical need in the region.
This medical outreach is part of the Indian Army’s ongoing efforts to build stronger ties with border communities and support their well-being, especially after the restoration of peace along the Line of Control.
