Holistic progressive card implemented for schools in J&K..

In a significant move, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in Jammu and Kashmir has introduced the Holistic Progressive Card (HPC) for all government and government-recognized private schools across the union territory.

A Circular Joint Direct Central issued by SCERT-JK mandates that the “student Assessment and Evaluation Scheme” as notified by the Council shall be implemented for students from the preparatory stage and onwards, starting from the 3rd class. This scheme also includes the recording of students’ progress on the Holistic Report Card (HPC) during the preparatory stage.

The circular specifically mentions that the foundational stage, encompassing classes up to the 2nd standard, will rely exclusively on the Holistic Progress Card (HPC) for recording student progress.
G.H Reshi from SCERT-JK elaborated on the initiative, highlighting the recent capacity-building workshop held for DIET (District Institute of Education and Training) faculty and resource persons. This workshop aimed at developing competency-based questions and exemplars for evaluating various domains of the Holistic Development Card (HPC) and accurately reflecting this progress.

Online training sessions focusing on the “Student Assessment and Evaluation Scheme” and “Holistic Progress Card” were organized from October 3rd to October 7th.
These sessions were attended by over 2000 faculty members, heads of institutions, and teachers across Jammu and Kashmir. Dr. Nazneen Mehraj, Head of the ERSA Division at SCERT-JK, played a pivotal role in coordinating these training programs.

Meanwhile, the Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has issued a directive to all Chief Educational Officers (CEOs) in the Kashmir division, urging them to implement the Holistic Progressive Card for all government and government-recognized private schools. This card, developed by NCERT and adopted by SCERT J&K, is set to bring about a holistic approach to student assessment and evaluation in Jammu and Kashmir.
