Hindi Pakhwada celebrations conclude at NIT Srinagar

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Tuesday marked the conclusion of its 15-day Hindi Pakhwada celebrations with a grand valedictory ceremony organized by the Rajbhasha Cell.

According to a statement issued here, the event featured a series of competitions, awareness programmes, and training activities aimed at encouraging the use of Hindi as the official language on campus.

In his message, Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, commended the Rajbhasha Cell for its dedication and successful conduct of the fortnight-long event.

“The consistent efforts of the Rajbhasha Cell reflect our commitment to promoting Hindi as an effective medium of official communication. Such initiatives not only preserve the nation’s linguistic identity but also foster inclusivity and better coordination within academic and administrative systems,” Prof. Kanaujia said.

Addressing the gathering, In-Charge Director, Prof. Roohie Naaz, appreciated the Rajbhasha Cell for its efforts in organizing the 15-day programme successfully.

“Language plays a crucial role in uniting people and strengthening cultural identity. Hindi Pakhwada reminds us of the importance of preserving our linguistic heritage while using Hindi more actively in day-to-day communication. I encourage all faculty, staff, and students to embrace Hindi in their official and academic interactions,” she added.

In his remarks, Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman praised the Rajbhasha Cell, led by Dr. Rajesh Prasad Shukla, for its exemplary work during Hindi Pakhwada.

“We hope that by next year there will be a visible improvement in the use and understanding of Hindi across the campus. Regular Hindi training sessions should be organized to help employees enhance their communication skills and professional growth, Prof. Rehman said.

He further suggested that the Rajbhasha Cell develop a structured timetable for such training, in line with the recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee on Official Language.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rajesh Prasad Shukla, Hindi Officer and Head of the Rajbhasha Cell, highlighted the collective efforts made to promote Hindi within the institution.

“The Rajbhasha Cell has worked continuously to strengthen the presence of Hindi in the institute’s official functioning. The enthusiastic participation of faculty and staff throughout Hindi Pakhwada shows our shared commitment to this cause,” he said.
