Handicraft & Handloom department organises two days Exhibition at Kupwara

The Department of Handicrafts and Handloom organized a two days District level Handicrafts & Handloom Exhibition under “Celebration of Vanijya Sapatah” (Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav

A large number of Artisans including unemployed educated girls of the district participated in the Exhibition.

The function was chaired by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kupwara on behalf of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara.

On the occasion various speakers threw light on the different schemes initiated by the Government from time to time to further boost the Handicraft and Handloom sector.

It was revealed that 300 Artisans have been registered so far in the district and are running self income generating units and earning their livelihood. It was also informed that 11 educated girls from Machipora Handwara have been provided financial assistance of Rs 11 lakh at the rate of Rs one lakh each to run their income generating units on subsidy basis.

Various stalls were established at the venue to showcase the Handicrafts and Handloom items.

The AC R on the occasion stressed upon the educated unemployed girls to come forward and take advantage of government schemes.
