Govt aims to make J&K cinematic hub

Director Information Kashmir, Jatin Kishore, announced on Thursday that the government is striving to transform Jammu and Kashmir into a cinematic hub. Speaking at the J&K Film Conclave held at SKICC, Kishore highlighted the government’s efforts to attract filmmakers to the region, which would benefit the local population and boost tourism.
“We want as many people as possible to shoot here, benefiting the local population and boosting tourism in Kashmir,” Kishore stated.

The J&K Film Conclave featured a full-day program, including movie screenings, panel discussions, and film-making workshops. Kishore also mentioned the launch of a new film policy with attractive incentives to promote film shooting in the region.
“We will continue to do such programs in the future, giving people a platform,” he said, citing a recent short-film competition in J&K where prizes were distributed.
“We are constantly working and bringing new initiatives to support local filmmakers and promote film shooting in J&K,” Kishore concluded.
