First snow skiing course concludes at Gulmarg

The Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering (IISM) Gulmarg completed its first snow skiing course Thursday marking a significant milestone in its training initiatives.
A total of 86 students from various parts of India participated in the course, showcasing immense enthusiasm and dedication. Out of 86 students 79 students enrolled in the basic course, while 5 students in intermediate level and 2 participants successfully undertook the advanced skiing course.
The graduation ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Col I S Thapa, SM, ISM, MID Principal IISM who distributed certificates and prizes to the participants. In his address, the principal lauded the dedication of the participants and emphasized the importance of such skill building programs in fostering discipline and team work among students. He commended the institute for its adaptability in overcoming challenges, as arrangements were made to take students to higher slopes for skiing due to the unavailability of snow at lower heights during the initial days of the course. He also expressed gratitude to the ski instructors and administrative staff for their invaluable contribution to the courses success, presenting them with words of appreciation.
The ceremony was a fitting end to an exciting journey, filled with learning and camaraderie. It was a proud moment for all involved, making the beginning of new opportunities for the participants in the field of skiing.
