First of its kind Night Kabbadi Tournament begins in Anantnag aims to channelize the talent of the youth

Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Mohammad Younis Malik, inaugurated the first of its kind Night Kabbadi Tournament at Sports Stadium Anantnag Sunday.
The tournament is organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports, Anantnag, under the aegis of Sports for Peace and Development Initiative. The matches are being played under flood lights and twelve teams in the age group of 19 to 30 years from across the district are participating in the tournament.
Two matches were played on the inaugural day in which Kabbadi teams of Dialgam and Kelum defeated their rivals. The tournament will conclude on 25 October.
On the occasion, DDC Anantnag said the motive of the night Kabbadi tournament is to channelize the talent of the youth in right direction by providing them opportunities and facilities to hone their sports talent in various sports categories.
The DDC said the Anantnag youth are talented enough to excel in any field of life including sports, “They have proved their mettle on various platforms in the recent past. All possible efforts will be made in providing best facilities in order to boost the sports activities in the district,” he said.
