Eleven Miles: A unique café that attracts tourists in Tangmarg

Offering excellent customer serviceand quality food, ‘Eleven Miles the cafe and grill’ is known for Italian, Indian, Chinese foods, all varieties of Kashmiri Wazwaan and trout fish.

Located on Gulmarg highway opposite GDC Chandilora in Tangmarg, the cafe which was started by Abdul Hameed Malik has attracted national and international tourists owing to its better services.

The 25-year-old Malik said it is good for travellers, couples, students, groups, and for families.

Its interiors are designed of wood carving with local architect and it has a great ambiance which is also a reason why people prefer to visit this place.

“Interior design is made of traditional wood which took seven months to complete it. I myself made the interior design,” he said.

Malik said on average 10 tourists visit there to have food and Google rating(s) has helped to improve the customer base. On the other side, it has also become a favourite spot for locals as 100 to 200 local people also visit the café daily to have multiple cuisines.

The café has become a source of employment to six people including a head chef, chef, assistant, waiters and two helpers.It is the only café in Tangmarg area that offers home delivery of foods within a radius of 11 kilometers. “We deliver all foods that are available with us to different areas,” he said.

Having the sitting capacity for 40 persons, the café offers Harrisa in winter from October to April. “We offer every food here that is why tourists prefer to come here. We are available all the time during the day and offer breakfast, lunch and dinner,” he said.

Malik said cafes are very important in a tourist spot as people from different cultures and regions come here. “Our area remains abuzz with tourist day in and day out. Opening of new caféscould be a game changer for generation of employment,” he said.
