DSEK announces establishment of Drug De-addiction centres in 311 HS Schools of Kashmir

Announcing the establishment of Drug de-addiction centres in 311 Higher Secondary Schools, Director School Education Kashmir Dr. G.N. Itoo has said that they shall be very helpful in making the recent Drug De-addiction Policy of Government a success.

During the inauguration of the training centre of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Unified Martial at Natipora, Srinagar, DSEK said that “Drug out, Sports in” is that kind of initiative by the implementation of which the drug menace can be eradicated from whole Jammu and Kashmir State.

DSEK appealed Health Department, Youth Services and Sports, other allied Departments and NGO’s to coordinate in the smooth functioning of these 311 Drug de-addiction centres in Higher Secondary Schools of the Valley so that this evil is eradicated from the society.

On the occasion DSEK also announced that a MoU with J&K Academy of Unified Martial Arts regarding “Drug Out, Sports in”.

DSEK said that sports is a means through which the youth can be kept away from drug menace.
Appreciating the initiative of J&K Academy of Unified Martial Arts, DSEK advised them to expand these types of activities to other parts of Valley as well.

During the inaugural ceremony of the Martial Arts centre, Abid Bashir Sofi, President of the Academy said that this training centre is unique as it is equipped with latest facilities and equipments.

He said that the Academy is utilizing the services of Martial Art experts from Canada and Philippines with the help of whom the players of the valley can match the other players at National Level.

Speaking on the occasion Rameez Khan, General Secretary of the Academy said that the academy is working to attract the youth towards sports for the eradication of drug menace and development of sound mental health and in this regard we are organizing many programmes in many schools and colleges.
During the function, Codi, the Martial Arts expert from Canada assured of benefiting the youth of the Valley through his experience.

Advisor of the Academy, Hina Salman also advised to expand the Academy to various parts of Valley and also advised students to take benefit from it.

Imtiyaz Chisti, Chairman, Youth Development highlighted the importance of sports and advised the parents to give ample time to their children and provide them opportunities to participate in sports activities.
Later some kids enthralled the audience by their martial arts skills. The function was attended by many National and International players of martial arts, students and parents.
