Div Com calls for multi-faceted development in Srinagar..

In a concerted effort to enhance the beauty and functionality of Srinagar, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri convened a meeting, focusing on the progress of various Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) projects and their direct impact on the city’s development.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the emphasis on the operation of Intelligent Multimodal Traffic Surveillance (IMTS) cameras installed at 63 key junctions across the city. The Div Com urged swift action to make all cameras operational, helping regulate traffic and maintain vigilance against potential threats to public property.

Regarding infrastructure development, it was revealed that 95% of the rectification work on MA Road had been completed, and the remaining work was expected to be finished shortly.

In the quest to expedite roadwork and beautification, Div Com directed officers to give special attention to Nehru Park and improve the turning radius at Sangarmal junction. Additionally, he urged the development of parking areas at Hat-Trick Chowk and the completion of toilet facilities.

Traffic management at Jahangir Chowk was also addressed, with a focus on reducing congestion during peak hours and enhancing the aesthetics of Foreshore Road.

To add a touch of vibrancy to the city, Div Com instructed the installation of colourful lights around Dal Lake, Abdullah Bridge, and Budshah Bridge, creating a mesmerizing spectacle at night. This move aims to attract visitors, promote tourism, and revitalize the region.

The meeting underscored the multifaceted approach being taken to ensure the holistic development of Srinagar, combining infrastructure improvements with beautification initiatives and enhanced traffic management, all with an eye on boosting tourism and the overall quality of life for its residents.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, the Commissioner of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) and CEO of SSCL, the Vice-Chairman of Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LCMA), the Senior Superintendent of Police for Traffic in Srinagar, and representatives from various government departments such as Roads and Buildings (R&B), Power Development Department (PDD), Public Health Engineering (PHE), Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC), and the Sports department.
