DIG North Kashmir promotes youth engagement through cricket, honors police martyrs

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of North Kashmir, Maqsood-Ul-Zaman, emphasized the importance of channeling youth energy through sports to combat harmful habits like drug abuse.
Speaking at the Police Martyrs Memorial Cricket Tournament organized by Sopore police, he underlined the growing enthusiasm for cricket in the Valley as a means of fostering positive engagement among the youth.
“Our primary goal is youth engagement,” DIG Zaman stated. “We aim to involve young people in cricket and other sports to divert them from negative influences and keep them on a constructive path.”
He also highlighted the tournament’s dual purpose: to honor police martyrs and provide a platform for community bonding and youth participation. “This event is dedicated to our martyrs, and we hope for maximum involvement of our youth,” he said.
The tournament has witnessed significant participation, reflecting the initiative’s success in creating a positive impact on the younger generation. By leveraging cricket’s widespread appeal, the police aim to inspire healthy habits and strengthen the community spirit
