Delhi Cyclothon – Akber Khan, International cycling star of Kashmir shines again

International cycling star of Kashmir, Akber Khan who rides for Noora Hospital continued his impact in professional cycling circuit of the country by finishing eight in Sakshan Delhi Cyclothon held in New Delhi on Sunday.

In the event, which is one of the premier professional cycling event of the country, around 80 top riders from all over the nation participated. From J&K five riders took part in the event and it was Akber who finished eighth. Other four riders also finished in the first bunch but missed to get a place in first 10. Akber bagged rupees 10 thousand cash prize for his eight place.

Akber has been continuously shining for J&K in professional cycling circuit and, this season only, it is his fourth top level finish. He is now looking forward to compete in Chandigarh Cyclothon.

Akber being the brand ambassador of Noora Hospital, was hailed for his performance by Managing Director of Noora Hospital Manzoor Ah Wagay for another top finish.

“It is tough to compete at this level and I am more than happy for my fellow riders from Kashmir who did well. They are learning well and have improved a lot. All of them finished in first bunch with Waheed Ahmad finishing 11th. Only top 10 were awarded,” Akber said.

“The riders from Kashmir are also turning professional and proving their mettle. I am sure that not only me, many more riders from the State finishing on top,” he added.
