The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb today flagged-off a group of 50 farmers for a capacity building training programme under Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) to SKAUST and Centre of Excellence Zawoora, Srinagar.
The objective of this tour was to familiarize farmers with the latest horticulture techniques and skills aimed at improving fruit crop production and productivity, aligning with the Prime Minister’s goals of doubling the farmer’s income.
While interacting with the farmers, the DC underscored the significance of such initiatives, emphasizing the role of new technologies in addressing challenges in the horticulture sector and enhancing economic prosperity, especially in the rural areas
The Chief Horticulture Officer, Shopian, Mohammad Ramzan War shared further insights with the farmers and said that programmes like this under HADP aim to raise awareness about various aspects, including nursery development, orchard management, hi- tech cultivation and micro- irrigation techniques.
