The 118 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) organized the CRPF Friendship Cup Volleyball Tournament under its Civic Action Programme at the Battalion Headquarters in Gund, Ganderbal. The event brought together ten enthusiastic teams, showcasing an exceptional spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie.
The tournament’s grand finale was a gripping showdown between Net Ninjas Gagangir (A) and Team Soul Cheriwan. After a fiercely contested match, Team Soul Cheriwan emerged victorious with a 2-1 win, earning the championship trophy along with a cash prize of ₹10,000. The runners-up, Net Ninjas Gagangir (A), received ₹5,000 for their impressive performance. As a gesture of encouragement, volleyball kits were distributed to all participating players, motivating them to continue their journey in the sport.
The tournament served as a symbol of unity, strengthening ties between the CRPF and the local community. Local dignitaries and residents praised the CRPF for organizing the event, highlighting its role in providing a platform for the youth to showcase their talent and engage in constructive activities.
In addition to the tournament, the CRPF also distributed carpentry tools to beneficiaries from nearby villages under the CRPF Madadgar Scheme. This initiative, led by Shri Sandeep, Commandant of 118 Bn CRPF, aims to empower underprivileged communities by supporting their livelihood.
Speaking on the occasion Sandeep emphasized the CRPF’s dedication to fostering mutual trust, promoting community engagement, and nurturing young talent. “We are committed to initiatives that enhance the well-being of the community and provide opportunities for the youth to excel,” he stated.
