In a great move for the entertainment industry, Jammu and Kashmir’s first dedicated film academy, Crown City Academy of Film & Television (CCAFT), has officially opened its doors in Jammu.
The academy aims to provide aspiring filmmakers, actors, and creatives with education and training to succeed in the rapidly evolving entertainment sector.
Founded by renowned filmmaker and entrepreneur Atul Vinod Duggal, CCAFT brings together cutting-edge infrastructure, industry expertise, and a commitment to promoting local culture.
Duggal, through his ventures Software & Services Pvt. Ltd. and AVD Motion Pictures, has created a space for students to hone their skills in film production, graphic design, video editing, social media, and more.
“We are thrilled to offer aspiring talent from Jammu and Kashmir the opportunity to explore their creative potential in a professional environment. This is more than just a film school; it’s a platform for storytelling, career growth, and cultural expression,” said Duggal during the opening ceremony.
The academy’s state-of-the-art facilities include fully equipped studios, sound recording suites, and advanced editing rooms. The curriculum blends theoretical knowledge with practical application, guided by seasoned professionals from the media industry. Students will also have opportunities to engage in internships with local filmmakers, gaining hands-on experience that is crucial for their careers.
For local students, the academy is a dream come true. “Growing up here, I never imagined there would be a place to study film so close to home. CCAFT is opening doors for us,” said Suman, a student from Jammu. Another local, Rajesh, added, “This academy will give our Jammu’s unique stories a platform, and I’m excited to be part of that change.”
CCAFT’s partnership with the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) ensures students receive government-recognised certifications, further enhancing their employability in the film and television industry. As the first of its kind in Jammu, CCAFT is set to redefine the cultural and cinematic landscape of Jammu and Kashmir, offering students the tools to bring their creative visions to life.
