Centre to invest Rs 50,000 crore in Jammu and Kashmir, Amit Shah launches portal

After the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, the development of the region remains the top priority of the Modi government. Taking a step in that direction, the government has started a portal for investment schemes worth Rs 50,000 crore there.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday launched the web portal through video conferencing. This portal will work for the registration of units under the ‘New Central Sector Scheme’ of industrial development of Jammu and Kashmir.

“With the launch of this portal, a new dawn of investment and industrial development will begin in Jammu and Kashmir. The industrial policy of Jammu and Kashmir is the most attractive industrial policy of the country. Under this policy of the Modi government, investment of more than Rs 50,000 crore will come in Jammu and Kashmir and this will lead to the all-inclusive, all-round development of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

The Home Minister said, “Prime Minister Modi (Narendra Modi) Ji had said that after the passage of Article 370 and 35A, a new beginning of employment and prosperity will start in Jammu and Kashmir. This is a big milestone in fulfilling the promise that Modi ji had made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. India’s industrial development, a good environment for it and a policy to compete with the world, this is the hallmark of the Modi government.”

He added, “Apart from tourism, education and IT in Jammu and Kashmir, this policy will also take forward many other possibilities. Till March 31, 2021, an amount of more than Rs 30,000 crore has been released to the state as central assistance. For the all-round development of Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister had announced a package of Rs 80,068 crore in Srinagar on November 7, 2015.”

The home minister said, “One Nation, One Ration Card scheme has been implemented by Jammu and Kashmir. Ujjwala, DBT, Saubhagya and many other schemes have been 100% implemented in Jammu and Kashmir. An ambitious plan by the Prime Minister, in which the target of providing clean drinking water to every household before 2022, will also be completed in Jammu and Kashmir by August 15, 2022. Jammu and Kashmir is the only state where every person has got the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Yojana.”

Replying to those who ask what difference has the government made, he said that “in 70 years the previous governments could not provide even basic facilities like house, toilet and electricity and water to about 2 lakh 20 thousand families of the state. At the same time, Prime Minister Modi has made available all these necessary facilities to the people in 2-3 years.”

The Home Minister said, “Hindi and English have been given the status of official languages along with Urdu and Dogri which will make work easier. The elections to the three-tier panchayat system in Jammu and Kashmir were conducted peacefully. These elections were held without firing a single bullet and today everyone is exercising their rights.”

Home Minister Amit Shah said that due to ensuring peace and security in Jammu and Kashmir, the number of tourists coming here has increased a lot and now tourists are able to come here and connect themselves here. The Prime Minister has brought this scheme for the development of Jammu and Kashmir with a very open heart. I request the industrialists of the country to come here and take advantage of this scheme and invest in Jammu and Kashmir. Let’s move towards making it the most developed state of the country.”

He said, “The responsibility of development of Jammu and Kashmir is not only of the local people but also of all of us. Only then will we have a relationship of our mind with Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and his team have done a great job and established a dialogue with the local people which has increased the confidence of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. I congratulate them for this.”
