Budgam police organises ‘Budgam Cycling Race-2021’

Under the Civil Action Programme of J&K Police, a mega-cycling race was organised by the Budgam Police. The race started from the Choon crossing in Budgam Town and finished at Tangnar in Doodhpathri. The event was flagged off by DIG CKR Sujit Kumar Singh-IPS. Over 150 cyclists, including both boys and girls, from different parts of the Valley, participated in the event with fervour and enthusiasm.

During the flag-off ceremony, DIG CKR Sujeet Kumar Singh- IPS thanked participants, media persons and all those involved in the event for braving the morning chill and making the event happen.

While interacting with the participants, DIG CKR emphasised that youth should inculcate sportsman spirit and a healthy lifestyle in their personal lives. At the event, SSP Budgam Tahir Saleem-JKPS, Addl.SP Budgam Gowhar Ahmed -JKPS, Dy.SP DAR Owaise Ahmad – JKPS, DySP HQRS Shri Nayeem Wani – JKPS and other officers of Budgam police were also present.

The prizes and awards were given to the winners at Tangnar in Doodhpathri during a closing ceremony of the event. In the male category first position was secured by Waheed Ahmed from Kanihama, who completed the 25 KM race track in just 54 mins. Saqib ul Rehman, Momin Ismail, Manzoor Ahmed and Shabir Ahmed secured 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th positions respectively. Apart from the trophies and participation certificates, all the winners were given cash rewards.

The first winner was presented with a cash prize of Rs 8000. Similarly, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th spots were presented with a cash prize of Rs. 4000, Rs 3000, Rs 2000 and Rs 1500 respectively.

Similarly, in the female category, Sara Nakash of Safa Kadal Srinagar secured the first position while Zubaya Tariq, Yameena Parvaiz, Anisa Muzafar and Farah Ahad secured 2nd, 3rd , 4th and 5th positions.

SSP Budgam while interacting with the winners and other participants said that J& K Police shall be organising such kinds of activities in future as well so that the youth stay away from negative activities like drugs and their energy is channelised in right direction for peace and harmony. ASP Budgam urged the participants to continue to take part in such events & promote cycling habits to maintain their physical and mental fitness.

A cricket tournament is also being organised by the Budgam Police. Teams from all parts of the district are participating in the tournament.
