A thrilling display of fast bowling by Aquib Nabi and Yudhvir Singh put Jammu & Kashmir firmly in control on Day 3 of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group-A match against Mumbai at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium
Resuming at 273/7, J&K added 52 crucial runs to reach 325 before being bowled out, conceding a slender first-innings deficit of 51 runs. Captain Paras Dogra led the charge with a brilliant 144, supported by a valuable 21 from all-rounder Aquib Nabi.
Mumbai’s Tushar Deshpande was the most successful bowler in the innings, claiming 3 wickets, with Tanush Kotian and Shardul Thakur taking 2 each.
Mumbai’s second innings began on shaky footing as J&K’s pace duo wreaked havoc. Nabi produced a sensational spell, taking 5 wickets for 52 runs in 16 overs, while Yudhvir Singh complemented with 2 for 30. Abid Mushtaq and Umar Nazir also chipped in with vital wickets, bundling Mumbai out for 181 and setting J&K a target of 243 runs.
Key Mumbai batsmen Shams Mulani (41), Sarfaraz Khan (32), and Akash Anand (31) showed resistance but succumbed to relentless bowling pressure. Chasing 243, J&K finished the day at 21/1, trailing by 222 runs with nine wickets remaining. Qamran Iqbal and Musaif Ajaz were at the crease, while Shubham Khajuria was dismissed for a duck. With a full day of play remaining, the contest is delicately poised, but momentum favors Jammu & Kashmir heading into Day 4.
