Baramulla pedals ahead with ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ drive

The Youth Services and Sports Department Baramulla engaged field staff, students and locals across all zones in a unified fitness mission and organised a district-wide cycling event under the banner of the ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ initiative. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from field staff, students and locals across all education zones of the district.

The zones that actively conducted cycling drives included Zone Dangiwacha, Wagoora, Singhpora Pattan, Chandoosa, Kunzer, Tangmarg, Singhpora Kalan, Fatehgarh, Baramulla, Uri, Dangerpora, Sopore, Nehalpora, Pattan and Rohama. At Zone Dangiwacha, the cycling rally began from Rawoocha and concluded at Dangiwacha, drawing participation from 37 YSS field staff along with students and locals. The event was flagged off by the SHO Dangiwacha at 8:00 am. Zone Wagoora organised a successful event starting from Wagila Bridge and ending at HSS Wagoora, engaging field staff and residents of the area. Similarly, Zone Singhpora Pattan flagged off its rally from HSS Gund Kh Qasim to Mazhama Railway Station.
Zone Chandoosa conducted its event from Haji Chowk Faqirbagh to GMS Chandoosa for the field staff. In a collaborative effort, Zones Kunzer and Tangmarg jointly organised their event, which was flagged off by SHO Kunzer and witnessed energetic participation from both staff and the community.

Zones Baramulla, Singhpora Kalan, and Fatehgarh conducted a joint event from Eco Park to Bipin Rawat Stadium, flagged off by ZPEO Fatehgarh Mubeen Ahmad Khan. Meanwhile, Zone Dangerpora’s event was flagged off by BDC Sopore Dr Fareeda Khanum and included both staff and local participants. Zone Sopore’s rally from Khushal Stadium to Amargarh also saw robust local involvement. In Zone Nehalpora, the rally commenced at Chuker Pattan and concluded at HSS Nehalpora, exclusively for field staff. Zones Pattan and Uri too organised their respective events with full spirit and in line with the objectives of the Fit India Movement. DYSSO Baramulla, Zahoor Ahmad Wani, lauded the efforts of Zonal Physical Education Officers, field staff, and participants for making the initiative a grand success. He reiterated the department’s commitment to promoting fitness, community engagement, and a healthy lifestyle through regular outdoor activities.

The ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ initiative continues to foster a culture of active living and collective well-being across the district.
