Baramulla boy wins gold at Eurasian Sanda League

The streets of Baramulla erupted in celebration as Musharaf Qayoom, a rising star in martial arts, returned home after his impressive victory at the Eurasian Professional Sanda League in Georgia.

With determination and skill, Musharaf clinched the title in a thrilling three-round match, defeating a former champion from Armenia and solidifying his status on the international stage.

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, expressed immense pride in Musharaf’s accomplishments, stating that Musharaf’s remarkable journey is a shining example of the incredible talent emerging from our community. “His victory not only brings pride to Baramulla but also serves as an inspiration for our youth to chase their dreams and reach new heights”, he said.

Musharaf’s path to glory began with an outstanding performance at the Batumi International Wushu Championship, held from October 17 to 23, where he showcased his skills and secured a gold medal, along with a cash prize of Rs 40,000. His dedication and hard work have ignited a wave of pride throughout Baramulla, making him a role model for aspiring athletes across Jammu & Kashmir.
