Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday organized an anti-drug rally in Baramulla town in which students and members of civil society participated.
The rally was organized in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), department of Education and Youth Services and Sports.
The rally flagged off by deputy commissioner Baramulla passed through different markets of the town and later culminated at Karyapa Park Baramulla.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP), Baramulla, Imtiyaz Hussain while speaking on the occasion said the need of the hour is to save the new generation from the drug abuse.
“It is time to launch a movement against drugs,” he said, while adding that the police was making lot of efforts to stop the supply of drugs often smuggled from across the border.
‘At the same time, a message need to be conveyed about the harmful effects of drug menace,” he said.
