Around 38L in Kashmir, 33L in Jammu issued with golden cards

At least 68.18 percent (pc) beneficiaries have been issued ‘golden cards’ under the Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY-Sehat scheme in J&K till June 1.

As per the details accessed by Rising Kashmir, 6985086 beneficiaries have got registered under the scheme which makes 76.59 percent of the total families.

As per the official data, 37.7 lakh people have been issued golden cards in Kashmir and 32.09 lakh cards have been issued in Jammu.

In Kashmir division, Shopian district has 2 lakh 10 thousand (81.87%) beneficiaries registered under SEHAT scheme., which is highest in the division. Shopian is followed by Ganderbal (74.64%), Anantnag (72.05%), Kulgam(71.57%),Budgam (67.85%), Pulwama (67.365), Bandipora (66.94%),  Baramulla (65.71%), Srinagar (60.17%) and Kupwara  (55.56%).

In Jammu division, Rajouri has 81.89% percent beneficiaries followed by Samba (79.49 %), Udhampur (79.49%), Ramban (73.69%), Reasi (73.54%), Doda (68.62), Poonch (68.37%), Kathua (68.01%) Kishtwar (64.52%) and Jammu (62.15%).

Prime Minister Modi launched the Ayushman Bharat-SEHAT scheme in December 2020 under which almost 1,000 patients apply for free IPD (Inpatient Department Care) treatment in J&K.

The main aim behind the scheme is to extend health insurance coverage to all residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

SEHAT stands for Social, Endeavour for Health and Telemedicine. It is a health insurance scheme for the Union Territory.

It provides free-of-cost insurance cover to all the residents of the UT of J&K.  It also provides financial cover up to Rs.5 Lakh per family on a floater basis to all residents of the UT of J&K.

The benefit of Rs 5,00,000 is on a family floater basis. This means that it can be used by one or all members of the family.

It covers medical procedures including oncology, cardiology, nephrology etc, and up to three days of pre-hospitalization and 15 days post-hospitalization expenses like diagnostics and medicines are also included in the scheme.
