The Wular festival was conducted by the Indian Army in collaboration with District Administration, Bandipora, Department of Tourism and Wular Manasbal Development Authority on 30 Aug 2022 at Zurimanz and Wular vantage point on the occasion of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”. The festival encouraged local fisherman to showcase their rowing skills by means of the Kishti Race. It has also added up to promoting and bringing to the dias the water sports capability of the Kashmiri youth. The event concluded with a fine display of extraordinary culture of Kashmir. Young artists, especially girls, women participated and performed local folk songs, dances, and spoke volumes of the artistic capabilities of the Kashmiri youth. The event consisted of Kishti Race, Sufiana Music, Qawwali, concert by the Jazz Band, Pipe Band Display, Rouf Dance, Martial Arts Demonstration, Kashmiri Chakri, and was highly appreciated by visitors from all walks of life. The festival has encouraged locals & generated awareness about the immense sports & cultural potential of the Wular.
