Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma on Tuesday visited North Kashmir to review the anti-infiltration grid and assess the operational preparedness of Army formations deployed along the Line of Control (LoC), officials said.
The Army Commander was briefed on the current security situation and the counter-infiltration posture in the sector.
He examined the readiness levels of units manning forward areas and evaluated the measures in place to prevent infiltration attempts from across the LoC.
During the visit, Chinar Corps Spokesman said that Lt Gen Sharma interacted with troops stationed in high-altitude forward locations.
He commended their combat readiness, firm morale, and sustained professional performance.
The Army Commander also encouraged the soldiers to maintain rigorous training standards and adopt technological innovations essential for building a future-ready force capable of meeting emerging security challenges.
He also stressed the importance of continuous operational preparedness to effectively counter attempts to disturb peace along the LoC.
The visit comes days after two unidentified terrorists were killed after the Army foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran sector of Kupwara district.
Following specific intelligence inputs from security agencies about a possible infiltration attempt in the sector.
“Alert troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged the infiltrators, who opened indiscriminate fire. In the ensuing exchange, two terrorists were neutralised,” officials added.
