Awami Itehad Party on Friday in a statement urged the current Government to immediately airlift Kashmiris stranded in various states of India at the earliest.
Demanding prompt action in identifying a number of Kashmiri students and travellers stuck in various countries abroad, party top brass in a statement asked for the intervention of the Ministry of External Affairs to facilitate their evacuation.
“The problems faced by students and travellers stranded in various states and countries abroad are in the public domain. Government of the day must do its best to mitigate their grievances and not leave them at the mercy of God,” said AIP spokesman in a statement.
The party also stressed in fast-tracking the process of ration distribution across Jammu and Kashmir. “It is incumbent on the Government to look after those especially who need assistance the most be it daily wage employees, labourers, hawkers, small traders, casual workers, BPL families and financially weaker sections of the society,” said the spokesman.
“It is the responsibility of the present administration to go an extra mile in making sure necessary assistance reaches the last person in the queue. In view of the further lockdown of twenty-one days it becomes all the very more important to ensure essential food items reach the needy at the earliest. We appeal the people at large also to cooperate with the authorities in every possible way for preventing any further loss of lives,” said Party spokesperson Sheeban Ashai.
While lauding various efforts of the medical fraternity and local administration, the party stressed upon the need for the LG administration to also come up with a financial assistance package for economically weaker sections of the society, casual labourers, daily wage employees and people associated with the unorganised sector.
