Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Ahmad Khan, today visited Baramulla district where he inaugurated Micro-Irrigation System at Intensive Vegetable Cluster, Sadderbal Palhalan, Pattan besides launching a special programme for revival of local Chilli known as ‘Lal Mirchi’.
Advisor was accompanied by Director Agriculture and other senior functionaries.
After the inauguration, Advisor interacted with some local progressive farmers who shared their success stories besides enlisting agricultural achievements recorded by them in their fields. They also raised some demands for overall welfare of farmers’ community.
Advisor appreciated the hard work of these farmers and exhorted upon them to adopt more scientific and latest farming techniques to further enhance their production and productivity. He also distributed appreciation certificates among some progressive farmers for their excellent performance in agriculture. He also urged upon the farming community to cultivate cash crops in their fields adding that such crops can maximize their incomes and profits instantly.
Meanwhile, Advisor reiterated that government is committed to promote agro-entrepreneurship programmes which have the potential to generate employment avenues. He added that several farming welfare measures are being taken up despite of adverse circumstances emerged due to outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown.
Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar, SSP Rayees Ahmad Bhat, Chief Agriculture Officers and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.
