The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed its Mountain Rescue Teams and Medical Teams along the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra routes to provide immediate assistance to pilgrims and ensure their safety throughout the pilgrimage.
Stationed at key locations on both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes, the specially trained teams are equipped to respond swiftly to medical emergencies and rescue operations in the challenging high-altitude terrain. Their presence has strengthened the overall emergency response mechanism during the annual pilgrimage.
The NDRF medical teams are providing emergency oxygen support, first aid, and on-the-spot medical treatment to pilgrims experiencing high-altitude sickness, fatigue, dehydration, breathing difficulties, and other health-related issues. In cases requiring advanced medical attention, the teams coordinate with healthcare facilities and emergency services to ensure timely evacuation and treatment.Given the rugged terrain and fluctuating weather conditions along the Yatra routes, the deployment of trained mountain rescue personnel has proved crucial in assisting pilgrims facing physical exhaustion, injuries, or emergencies during the trek to the Holy Cave Shrine.
Officials said the NDRF personnel remain on high alert throughout the pilgrimage, working in close coordination with the Jammu & Kashmir administration, security forces, health departments, and disaster management authorities to ensure a prompt and effective response to any emergency.
