KU Promotes Sportsmanship with Employees’ Cricket Tournament

Continuing its series of employees’ sporting events aimed at mobilisingemployees  at workplace for their health benefits, the Directorate of Physical Education and Sports (DPE&S) University of Kashmir ( KU)on Wednesday kickstarted the employees’ Cricket Tournament at Ground A of the university.

The tournament, as per KU statement, was formally declared open by the Vice-Chancellor KU, Prof. Nilofer Khan, in the presence of Registrar KU Prof. Naseer Iqbal, faculty members, officers, employees, and sports enthusiasts.

The tournament has drawn enthusiastic participation from employees representing various teaching departments, administrative units, and satellite campuses of the university. To showcase the rich natural heritage of Kashmir, the nine participating teams have been named after the valley’s iconic rivers, adding a unique local flavour to the competition. The tournament is being conducted on a league-cum-knockout basis.
