Cannes Red Carpet Sees Kashmiri Elegance as Bilal Bhagat Wears Pheran

 Kashmiri actor and associate director Bilal Bhagat has showcased the Valley’s rich cultural and artistic heritage at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival through the screening of Bombay Stories, a film inspired by the iconic works of Saadat Hasan Manto.

Baghat drew attention at the international festival after walking the Cannes red carpet dressed in a traditional Kashmiri pheran and karakul, proudly representing his roots and culture on the global stage.

Sharing pictures from the event on Instagram, Baghat wrote, “Walked the Cannes red carpet in my traditional Kashmiri pheran and karakul, feeling incredibly proud to wear my roots.”

“From performing Bhaand Pather in small village squares to Cannes, this journey has been about stories, sweat and belief. Immense thanks to the director, producers, cast and crew of Bombay Stories, and to my teachers, gharana, family and friends for always lifting me,”he added.
