Jammu and Kashmir’s Gulzar Ahmad Khan and Muzamil Hussain Mir have been selected to represent India at the International SnowShoe Race “Ciaspolada 2026” in Trentino, Italy, on January 3 to 4, 2026. They will be part of a 17-member Indian contingent participating in the 52nd edition of the world’s oldest and largest snowshoe running event.
As per the reports SnowShoe Federation of India (SSFI) officially informed Tariq Ghani, President of J&K SnowShoe Association, citing the athletes’ past performances and experience. Gulzar, from Budgam, has represented India in multiple international championships, including Italy and Japan, while Muzamil, from Srinagar, won a bronze at the 2020 World SnowShoe Championship and was the top J&K finisher in the recent Kashmir Marathon.
Congratulating the athletes, Ghani, Senior Vice President Naseem Chaya and Vice President Arif Laigaroo hailed their selection as a proud moment for J&K and an inspiration for budding snowshoe runners.
The Ciaspolada, organized under the World SnowShoe Federation, attracts elite athletes worldwide, providing Indian players valuable international exposure.
