Bandipora Pencak Silat Championship Draws Big Crowd at Army Goodwill School

The District Bandipora Pencak Silat Championship Friday concluded with great enthusiasm and participation at the Army Goodwill School, Bandipora. The championship witnessed an overwhelming response with over 250 young athletes from various clubs and schools across the district showcasing their martial arts skills, discipline, and competitive spirit.According to a statement issued here said that the closing ceremony was graced by Major Vebhas Dubey of the 14 Rashtriya Rifles, who attended as the chief guest.

He awarded medals to the winners and participants who have qualified for the upcoming Union Territory-level competition, applauding their dedication and sportsmanship. In his motivational address, Major Dubey emphasised the role of sports in shaping discipline, focus, and national pride among youth. He encouraged the athletes to maintain consistency in their training and to aim for higher platforms where they can bring laurels to the district and the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.

Also present at the ceremony were Farooq Ahmad Bhatt, Vice President of the District Bandipora Sports Advisory Board, and the Principal of Army Goodwill School Bandipora, who jointly commended the efforts of all participants and appreciated the role of the school in promoting sports and character development. The event was meticulously organized by the District Bandipora Pencak Silat Association with support from the technical committee, school administration, and volunteers, ensuring a smooth and professionally conducted championship.

The championship not only provided a competitive platform for the children of Bandipora but also reinforced the region’s growing culture of sports and physical excellence. Events like these are instrumental in identifying and nurturing grassroots talent, contributing to the holistic development of youth. The District Association expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Indian Army, local administration and all stakeholders whose support made the championship a grand success.
