In a bid to revive tourism in the Valley post the Pahalgam incident, the 6th edition of the Shikara Race was organised by J&K students of Aryans Group of Colleges, Chandigarh, at Ghat No. 18, Dal Lake.
The event, as per a statement, was flagged off by J&K Minister for Health, Medical, and School Education, Sakina Itoo, drawing participation from around 50 shikaras under the theme “Aryans Welcomes You in Kashmir”.
On the occasion, Ms Sakina Itoo, Minister for Health & Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education and Social Welfare, was the Chief Guest, and Dr Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group, presided over it.
The minister appreciated the students and management of Aryans Group of Colleges. He said, “I have already seen the positive role of the Aryans Group when, after the Pahalgam incident, Kashmiri students studying outside the valley were disturbed due to various incidents. Aryans not only opened its hostel doors to affected students but also took an active step to conduct special semester exams for JK students, working alongside me.”
Dr Kataria extended his gratitude to the minister for participating in the race and inspiring students. He appreciated Kashmir’s beauty, stating that it is and will always be a heaven on earth, unaffected by negative incidents like the Pahalgam incident. Dr Kataria also commended the Aryans JK students, who, despite studying outside the state, consistently think about the Valley’s well-being. He praised their efforts in successfully organising the 6th Shikara Race.
On the occasion, Dr Parveen Kataria, Director General; Dr Garima Thakur, Deputy Director; Manpreet Mann, Dean, Scholarship; Er Mudasir Ahmed, Er Rayees, Er Jahangir Rashid, Er Shahid Lone, Er Umar Nazir, Mr Danish, Mr Saquib, etc., were present.
