Four J&K Judokas participated at World Blind Judo Championship

In a proud moment for the J&K sports fraternity, four blind Judokas from Jammu & Kashmir represented India at World Blind Judo Championship held in Astana, Kazakhstan, from May 8 to 16.

This marks the first time such significant representation from J&K at an international blind judo event. The ace Judokas — Anshuman Sharma, Adiba Choudhary, Shahnaz Akhter and Jamila Anjum were part of the 12-member Indian squad.

All four athletes are trainees of Suraj Bhan Singh, Chief Judo Coach and Manager at Indoor Complex, M.A. Stadium, Jammu, who has been training them for the past seven years under the aegis of the J&K Sports Council. Their participation is a historic achievement, reflecting both the athletes’ resilience and the high-quality training infrastructure for para-sports in the Union Territory.
